About Kevin K. Rooney

I help startups grow – from formation to fundraising, strategic deals, and liquidity events. As outside corporate counsel, I work with founders and emerging companies on everything from setting up their business and securing financing to navigating corporate governance and major transactions. I also advise on venture capital deals, M&A, strategic partnerships, and equity offerings for both companies and investors. I work with incubators, accelerators, and venture funds on formation, securities, and investments. Occasionally, I represent founders individually in M&A and IPO transactions.Previously, I led the corporate practice at Cooley’s Palo Alto office and served as corporate hiring partner from 2016 to 2020. I’m now the corporate hiring partner in our San Francisco office.When I am not practicing law, I’m spending time with my family, playing ice hockey, snowboarding, mountain biking, traveling and enjoying wine.
