ABOUT KEVIN CANNING

I am an energetic and strategic scientist and business leader in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. I have a proven track record (>20 years) of leading drug development and commercialization across a multitude of therapeutic areas. My experience and expertise include pre-clinical development, regulatory, clinical development, medical development, external research & development alliances/partnerships, and technology assessment. I have conceived and executed patient-centric strategies that laid the groundwork for drug development and product launch success and heightened post-launch customer engagement.My passion is and always has been, to combine science and business to develop and deliver innovative treatments that will significantly improve the lives of Canadian and global patients. I have a continuous learner mindset and thrive on developing innovative strategies and tactics to solve problems, whilst building and maintaining key external and internal relationships. I am a highly flexible and culturally sensitive cross-functional partner.I get great joy out of helping others develop professionally and am genuinely focused on being an engaged people leader. I have a demonstrated history of leading high-performance teams and being a go-to leader for building, coaching, and leading winning teams in small start-ups as well as large pharmaceutical companies. I work diligently to create a culture that motivates and allows people to contribute in an impactful and meaningful way so that they ultimately feel fulfilled in their work lives.I actively contribute to the life sciences ecosystem through public-speaking engagements as well as supporting education, professional training, policy position creation, and scientific and due diligence reviews for funding/granting agencies. I have authored book chapters as well as posters and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
