ABOUT KEVIN DWIGHT RICHARDSON BARKINGHAND
I am a dual citizen of the Cherokee Nation and United States. My professional socially-engaged practice is, “Art in Service to (fill in the blank) and consists of a job which is ninety percent design professionally, informed by a 10 percent personal creative practice. This of skills sets has positioned me distinctively in various fields, which have included: higher education, humanitarian agencies, nonprofit, corporate design, politics, and health & wellness. Currently, I am the Volunteer Creative Coordinator at Ozarks Food Harvest, and am part of a team that helps address the social equity issue of food insecurity in southwest Missouri. At The Food Bank I am currently leading, ”Hope Notes, a new art-based project with a goal of creating hand-made cards of encouragement from our community to elementary school children in the Weekend Backpack Program. Meanwhile, in my personal practice, I co-created a two-day workshop based on my studying of the emerging field of NeuroArts,(Art, Science, and Technology) with Beth Spindler, Author, Movement Therapist, and Teacher that premiered at YogaCampus, London England in the fall of 2023.
