I am an experienced, enthusiastic and strategic thinker. I strive to align projects and plans with overarching community goals. I am passionate about economic development, particularly with regard to the power it has to change urban areas at the macro and micro levels. I have performed economic development, workforce development, grant writing, strategic planning and program development activities and blended those skills and abilities in the governmental and not-for-profit arenas. Marketing and sales experiences in the retail sector round out my professional background.I enjoy time with my family, watching, reading and analyzing sports, and community service.

   Carolina Small Business Development Fund

   Feb 2020 — Present · Raleigh-Durham, NC, US

   Lead not-for-profit organization of over 30 dedicated professionals with three focus areas - small business financial capital, small business technical assistance and growth, and policy research/development.Since my tenure began in February 2020, the organization has seen a dramatic increase in loan production and we have provided loans, loan modifications, deferred payments, and grants to over 1,200 businesses throughout the State of NC as we walked hand in hand with them through the pandemic and beyond. We have restructured the organization, converting a department and adding a new revenue stream called fund management where we partner with public-sector organizations to manage their loand and grant funds, as well as programs. We have eclipsed the $102M mark in capital deployment dating back to when we began providing loans in 2010 and growing the number from $71M to $102M in three years. We have an outstanding team that is all in on equitable economic development and helping small businesses grow!I also lead an 18 member board of directors, consisting of professionals from the financial services, higher education, healthcare and non-profit sectors.I represent the organization on the boards and/or committees of international, statewide, and regional organizations including the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), North Carolina Economic Development Association (NCEDA), Invest Appalachia (IA) and the African American Alliance of CDFI CEO\'s
