WORK HISTORY
Adjunct Professor @Harvey Mudd College
Claremont, CA, US
Created and taught a course titled: The Mechanics of Structures and Solids. This course connects kinematics, balance laws, and constitutive laws with the practical applications of mechanical characterization and experimental analysis. Students are taught to speak the language of solid mechanics, formulate problems from discussion and execute rigorous analysis. Additionally, this course prepares students to set up, run, and diagnose finite element analysis of solid bodies and check those results against their fundamental understanding of solid mechanics.

ABOUT KEVIN NAKAHARA
As a PhD Candidate at Caltech, my journey intertwines mechanical engineering with the pioneering field of nanoarchitected materials. The Greer Group has been instrumental in my development, where our collective efforts focus on fabricating and characterizing materials that redefine performance boundaries. Specializing in scalable production of nanoarchitected materials via holographic lithography, my role seeks to uncover relationships between hierarchical metamaterial design parameters and material performance demonstrating the power of architected design. My contributions to the Greer Group are marked by both experimental and computational investigations of the intricate relationship between architecture and material behavior. By developing computational models motivated and validated by observed mechanical behavior, I have illuminated pathways to optimize mechanical properties across varying length scales orders of hierarchy and strain rates. Additionally, I have served as the research group\'s lab manger and social chair for the past two and four years respectively.
