Mr. Keaton received his Associate Degree in Fire Science Technology from Joliet Junior College. His responsibilities at SEA include determining the origin and cause of fires in structures, recreational vehicles, and motor vehicles, as well as conducting follow-up and background investigations. He is an IAAI CFI (Certified Fire Investigator) and has extensive experience in law enforcement training and board certifications as a juvenile officer and an evidence technician. He is also certified as a NAFI CVFI (Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator). Recognized by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications as a Fire Investigator. Mr. Keaton has testified as an expert witness in municipal and state court. He also is a trained fire fighter, roadway extrication specialist, fire apparatus engineer, fire instructor, fire prevention officer, fire officer and hazmat tech. He served as an Operations Commander for the Dupage County Fire Investigator Task Force for over five years. He is a former adjunct instructor for the University of Illinois-Police Training Institute, College of Dupage and Joliet Junior College. Mr. Keaton is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and currently serves on the Educational and Training Committee; National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) member; past member and President of the MABAS Division Fire Investigation Team; past member of the Joliet Junior College Fire Science / Paramedic Advisory Committee; and past member of the University of Illinois-Police Training Institute Arson Educational Committee.
