Assisting the Ornithology team with the management of an avian collection of 1,400 + specimens, over 260 species, and a keeper team of 17! It is a GINORMOUS Zoo, I still am finding places I have not experienced before and I have been there 4 months! Amazing array of managers. One of the best Animal Health Teams at a zoo or aquarium in the country, maybe the world! Bird of Paradise babies hatching like chickens, science of breeding unusual species, megapodes like Maleos, lek species like Birds of Paradise. And a team of deeply committed conservationists trying to make Zoos stay relevant with current avian (and other taxa) crisis worldwide. 2 Major exhibit buildings, multiple minor facilities, birds across the entire 250 acre park! Proud and love going to work every morning!
