About Kevin Alexander

James Beard and Thurber Prize award-winning author, journalist, speaker, and editorial consultant. My 2019 book BURN THE ICE: THE AMERICAN CULINARY REVOLUTION AND ITS END (Penguin Press) chronicled the mainstreaming of food culture in America over the past decade, and was called \"sharply insightful\" by the Times Literary Supplement, which is impressive bc they\'re British. In 2022, I co-wrote the Los Angeles Times bestseller CALIFORNIA SOUL (Random House), Chef Keith Corbin\'s incredible memoir, which was a finalist for a James Beard Award in Literary Writing and currently being developed into a television series by Paramount. THE LEMON, a novel I co-wrote that satirizes the worlds of food, media, and entertainment (but, like, SEXY), came out in November 2022 from Viking and won the 2024 Thurber Prize in American Humor (previous winners include Jon Stewart, Calvin Trillin, and David Sedaris). THE LEMON was also a New York Times\' Editors Choice, named a \"most anticipated book\" of the Fall by 11 publications (including Vogue AND AARP), and optioned by Mare of Easttown producers Wiip. Oh, and before all of that, I wrote for magazines, had a two month stint as a speechwriter for an unsuccessful lieutenant governor candidate, worked in both the Natick and Burlington malls, played mediocre college soccer, and ate 330 burgers in 30 cities in a year.
