About Keven Shepherd

Keven Shepherd is a professional saxophonist, arranger and music educator. He is well known for starting the Miller Grove High School band program in Lithonia, GA. While at Miller Grove, he developed the band program and cultivated an atmosphere of music appreciation and excellence. Under his leadership, the Miller Grove Band was the only DeKalb County band to participate in and receive superior ratings at every G.M.E.A. sanctioned event from 2005 to 2015. Senior band members at Miller Grove High School averaged well over two million dollars in scholarship offers annually. Also, Miller Grove bands never received anything less than an Overall Superior rating at any event under Shepherd\' leadership. Keven Shepherd currently arranges band music for well over 30 high school and college programs. In addition, he was fortunate enough to do most of the arrangements for the Drumline Live stage play, some songs for the BCFX college football game and arrangements for Drumline: A New Beat the Movie. His band arrangements with Hal Leonard have been played all across the country. The University of Purdue featured one of his arrangements in a show last year. The Grammy Foundation also selected Keven as a quarter finalist for the Recording Academy and their Music Educator Award.Professionally, Keven Shepherd is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc, the White and Gold Honor Society, Music Educators Association (GMEA), The National Association for Music Education (NAFME), and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.Keven Shepherd’s personal teaching philosophy is “any student can excel in an environment that facilitates the achievement of educational goals”A.
