The Group Ventures is an operator-led venture fund investing in Canadian and Israeli tech. We\'re a group of experienced operators (people who\'ve actually built and scaled businesses) who back exceptional founders and stay genuinely close to the work. We don\'t just write cheques. We bring pattern recognition, networks, and hands-on perspective to the founders we back. If you\'re building something ambitious in the Canadian or Israeli tech ecosystem, we\'d like to hear about it.

ABOUT KEVIN OBRIEN
I spend my time at the intersection of three things I care deeply about: building great businesses, backing great founders, and helping leaders navigate their career. As Portfolio CEO at PYXiS Software Group (a Jonas/Constellation company), I work with six vertical SaaS business units; driving organic growth, developing the next generation of business leaders, and identifying acquisitions that fit our long-term, permanent-hold model. If you lead or own a profitable vertical software business and are thinking about a values-aligned home for the long run, I\'d genuinely enjoy a conversation. As a Founding GP at The Group Ventures, I invest in Canadian tech alongside a group of experienced operators who\'ve actually built and scaled real businesses. We back exceptional founders and stay close to the work. The third thread is Wayfinding. It is a field guide I\'m building for leaders navigating the full terrain of a career. After thirty years operating at the intersection of strategy, growth, and leadership (from strategy consulting to Aeroplan to WeightWatchers Canada to private equity) I found myself with a view I hadn\'t seen in any single book. Most business advice treats career challenges in isolation: a book on strategy here, a book on burnout there. But on a random Tuesday, you don\'t face these things in isolation. You face them all at once.Wayfinding covers the full terrain: financial fluency, communication, focus, leadership, vitality, connection, and ultimately, legacy. It uses the travel metaphor deliberately. Because the best careers, like the best trips, aren\'t about checking off destinations. They\'re about learning to navigate with intention.Twice a month on Substack and LinkedIn, I share thinking for the days when the map doesn\'t match the terrain. If any of this resonates (whether you\'re a founder thinking about a transaction, a leader in transition, or simply someone who wants to navigate with more intention) reach out.
