ABOUT LANA K.

I am a passionate advocate for gender-affirming and trauma-informed care, LGBTQI and women’s rights, reproductive justice, and healthcare for underserved/rural populations. I have traveled through, lived and worked in over 35 different countries, and have over 15 years of progressive experience as a health educator, workshop facilitator, patient navigator/advocate, and now as a clinical nurse in Labor & Delivery and Forensic Nursing. My strengths and experience lie in community outreach/education, health program management, and perinatal health. I have extensive knowledge of global reproductive and sexual health topics, forced migration and the plight of refugees and displaced populations, and substance use prevention and response with a particular focus on the US opioid crisis.I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double minor in African Studies and Gender & Women\'s Studies, a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Boston University, a Certificate in NGO Management from the American Graduate School in Paris, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Duke University.Specialties: workshop facilitation, health education, qualitative research, writing/editing, blogging, data collection, data management, perinatal care, clinical navigation, health advocacy
