About Kerri MacDonald

I am a visual editor, writer, editor and creative strategist with 15+ years of experience experimenting with new forms of storytelling. Currently, I lead editorial channels for @threads, Instagram\'s app for public conversation. I run a team focused on product communication, community engagement and editorial activations. Previously, on Instagram’s Brand Design team, I led the team behind @design, which tells the story of emerging designers and creative communities around the world. I was the first Social Photo Editor at The New York Times, where I pitched and launched @nytimes on Instagram — an account I grew organically to 5 million followers. Prior to that role, I worked as a photo editor covering New York, the A1 photo editor in Hong Kong and the first producer for the NYT photography blog, Lens. Over my years at The Times, I published hundreds of articles on photography and spoke often about the intersection of social media and photography.
