ABOUT KERI MARTINOWICH

Dr. Keri Martinowich is Chief Scientific Officer at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, where she oversees scientific strategy and integration across basic, translational, and drug discovery research programs, and Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.She received a B.A. in International Relations from The George Washington University and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by postdoctoral training in translational neuropsychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health.Dr. Martinowich’s research focuses on understanding how gene expression programs within defined cell populations and neural circuits contribute to human brain function and neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disease. Her research program integrates spatially resolved transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, and data-driven computational approaches with experimental models, with an emphasis on postmortem human brain tissue. This work aims to identify molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying disease vulnerability and to validate these findings in human cell-based systems and rodent models.
