ABOUT KENT VAINIO

I am a versatile full-stack engineer working to build the future of AI + gaming at Astrocade, the world’s first AI-powered game creation platform.Before my startup life began I worked at Google on YouTube Trust and Safety, with the goal of making the Internet a safer place! My interests in Computer Science and technology include a plethora of other fields as well, from mixed reality to medical AI.I did a BS and MS at Stanford, both in Computer Science. During my BS I focused on AI (with a minor in Japanese, because who doesn’t like trying something new?), and for my Masters I studied Bioinformatics. In addition, I took courses in Computer Graphics, Quantum Computing and many other fields. During my last two years at The Farm I did research with the Stanford Vision Lab on the use of VR in robotic simulation environments. Through this project I contributed to 3 successful publications, which you can find on this page. I am highly passionate about all of these technologies and their potential to build a better future for us all!Prior to working at Google as a full-time engineer I was fortunate enough to do two internships at the company, first in Augmented Reality and then in Antivirus Technology, the latter of which led me down the Trust and Safety route. Before Google I worked in Japan for two consecutive summers, first at a cutting-edge Virtual Reality startup, and then at a leading Internet and iPhone game development company. VR and gaming are both technologies that I personally find very exciting as they allow us to bring the power of human imagination into reality!Through my work I hope to contribute to the next great innovations that will change our lives for the better. I strongly believe that at the core of all new ideas is an inter-disciplinary, flexible approach that combines insights from seemingly disparate fields.
