About Kenrick Cameron

I am a public health professional with a foundation in philosophy, currently serving as a Program Support Specialist at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. My Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Virginia Tech taught me to think critically about justice, ethics, and systems—skills I apply directly to public health, a field that is both art and science. Public health relies on evidence and data, yet it\'s true impact emerges when theory meets practice: when interventions are implemented in communities, tailored to lived experiences, and adjusted based on outcomes. My Master of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College deepened this perspective, focusing on health disparities and the social determinants of well-being, and solidified my commitment to addressing inequities across the Commonwealth of Virginia.In my current role, I support the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI), expanding broadband access to underserved areas, and the Line Extension Customer Assistance Program (LECAP), which helps residents connect to utilities affordably. Through these initiatives, I work to ensure that policies and programs are equitable, evidence-informed, and responsive to community needs, and I collaborate with the Broadband Advisory Council to help shape strategies that bring reliable connectivity to all Virginians.
