About Kenny Ortiz
As a college student who refuses to let my opportunities go to waste, I am actively pursuing my dream of investment banking and seeking opportunities for a 2027 summer analyst internship. Although it may seem like I have my goals set, it wasn’t always like this. While attending Kingsborough Community College, I was trying to determine what I would want to do in business. Fortunately, my coursework and college experiences have led me to my interests in finance, market research, and client relations. However, I was still unsure about what I wanted to do. When I thought I was interested in marketing as a career, I interned at the CUNY Spring Forward program to further my career in digital marketing. Back then I thought it was important for me to seriously aim for experience and become the best marketer I could be—so much so that I lost track of what I actually enjoyed doing. Let\'s just say I found out marketing wasn\'t my calling, even though I learned so much. At my internship site (Stronger Through Faith Media), I built and strengthened my communication and organizational skills through the completion of weekly assignments and conducting client interviews. I had thought that marketing was my calling, so strengthening these skills was a priority for me at the time. As a passionate student, I always looked for plenty of different ways that I can build myself up. Even if it meant gaining job experience as an assistant teacher. As an assistant teacher under the SYEP program, I developed many skills including leadership, teamwork, and event planning. Back then I was trying everything I could to strengthen my abilities and make a name for myself. Even though I learned a lot, I knew this wasn’t my calling either. Even though neither of my job experiences led to the future that I had seen for myself, I’m grateful for them. They led me to develop a strong ambition for investment banking. Not only in my job experiences—but also in my college coursework as well. These experiences alongside my studies have given me a strong analytical mindset as well as a determination to thrive in fast-paced environments. I am a person who thrives on ambition and discipline in order to improve 1% each day. I’m for gradual self-improvement and strive to exert continuous growth. That is why I’m so drawn to investment banking—because I value strategic problem-solving and the challenge of it. I know that this is a tough line of work, but that is why it is fulfilling. I’m eager to continue growing through mentorship and hands-on experience in the investment banking field!
