As a Principal Computational Health Scientist, I specialize in answering questions about how chemicals and pathogens in our air, water, consumer products, workplaces, and medical devices impact human and environmental well-being. My work integrates traditional risk assessment with emerging AI governance frameworks, bringing computational rigor to both chemical safety evaluation and responsible technology development. Much of my work has been published in over 90 peer-reviewed scientific journals.PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: My commitment to applying scientific principles towards a sustainable future as an independent consultant has been deeply inspired by my training in environmental engineering. During this time, I read the compilation of essays from the National Forum on BioDiversity, held in Washington, D.C. in September 1986, edited by E.O. Wilson. This remarkable book marked an emerging awareness of the deep interconnections between conservation biology and economic development.HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT: The 1983 National Academy of Sciences report \"Risk Assessment in the Federal Government\" was life-changing for me early in my career. Most regulations affecting our daily lives include risk assessment either directly or indirectly. In brief, it is a process used to evaluate potential health effects of exposure to chemicals, pathogens, or other substances. It involves identifying potential adverse effects, assessing exposure, understanding dose-response relationships, and characterizing overall risk to inform decisions protecting public health and the environment.AI GOVERNANCE: Recently certified as an Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP), I recognize powerful parallels between traditional health risk assessment and AI risk management. Both require systematic hazard identification, exposure characterization, uncertainty quantification, and risk mitigation.
