About Kenneth Corey

As the highest-ranking member of the NYPD, I managed law enforcement operations throughout New York City where I developed security strategies to mitigate risk, assess vulnerabilities, and direct crisis management. Throughout my career, I directed security operations during major events at contained venues, such as Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium and the U.S. Open, as well as during celebrations that present unique challenges, as during the weekend-long West Indian Day Carnival in Brooklyn that attracts over 2 million people. Rising to these challenges – and achieving success in maintaining public safety – requires establishing trusted networks among local business leaders, the media, intelligence professionals, local government agencies and community members; this improves coordination among all the stakeholders.Law enforcement policy must achieve the balance between public safety and fairness to our citizens. To that end, I was instrumental in developing training to address inequities in law enforcement. I responded to calls for policing reform in the wake of civil protests by developing training around inclusive policing, active bystandership, and the role of law enforcement in contemporary society.I employ a data-driven approach to analyze policy gaps and implement remediation. This involves analyzing workflow to identify gaps in policing functions that led to an 11% increase in officers on patrol.
