Glasgow, GB

As the Practice Education Team Lead within the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), I manage and support a team of five Practice Education Leads (PELs) and three PEL Administrators, who oversee BSc Paramedic students from the five Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Scotland. My role is integral in developing and delivering high-quality placement experiences that align with the HEI program requirements, ensuring that students gain the hands-on experience needed to excel in their future roles.I work closely with NHS Education for Scotland, the Scottish Government, and various Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs) across the country to enhance learning opportunities and improve the overall student experience. By collaborating with key stakeholders, including educational and operational colleagues at all levels, from frontline staff to directors, I help ensure that communication about student learning is clear, consistent, and geared toward supporting their progression in practice.A core part of my work is fostering partnerships between the SAS, educational institutions, and healthcare organizations to influence and improve the quality of practice-based education. This collaboration ensures that our paramedic students receive the guidance and experience necessary for their professional development.Additionally, I am working on the expansion of my role to include leadership of the Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) program, where I will further support the transition of paramedics into their careers, ensuring their continued growth and competency within the healthcare system.
