ABOUT KENNETH NELSEN

With over 30 years of dedicated service in the field of corrections, I have cultivated a deep understanding of facility management and inmate rehabilitation across three states: New Jersey, South Carolina, and Tennessee. I began my career with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, where I proudly served for 25 years, earning recognition for my distinguished service and commitment to maintaining safety and security within the correctional system.After retiring from New Jersey, I transitioned to South Carolina, where I spent over six years working in various capacities at four medium and maximum security prisons. This experience allowed me to develop a diverse skill set and a nuanced perspective on the unique challenges faced by correctional facilities. I focused on enhancing operational efficiency and fostering a culture of professionalism among staff, all while prioritizing the rehabilitation of inmates.Currently, I hold the position of Warden at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, Tennessee. In this role, I oversee daily operations, ensuring a secure environment for both staff and inmates while promoting rehabilitative programs that support community reintegration. My journey in corrections has been driven by a passion for making a positive impact within the system, and I remain committed to leading with integrity and compassion.
