About Kenneth G Boykin
Retired- I was a research professor with the New Mexico Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology at New Mexico State University. I also served as the Director of New MexicoView and the Center for Applied Spatial Ecology (CASE). My research interests include ecosystem services, riparian ecosystems, amphibians and reptiles, and spatial ecology. I have conducted research on the ecological role of fire within southwestern ecosystems, desert spring ecology, ecological context, conservation, ecosystem services, alternative futures, and biodiversity. I have worked on species ranging from land snails to free-ranging horses. Current research is looking at biodiversity metrics that reflect ecosystem services across the conterminous United States. I have taught courses on principles of fishery and wildlife management, GIS in natural resources, herpetology and seminars in natural resource management.
