I didn’t join the military out of patriotism or some dream of seeing the world.Honestly? I joined to get the hell out.I grew up bouncing between Germany and Arizona - dual-military parents, government housing, and a whole lot of dead-end jobs.By my early 20s, I was walking everywhere because I didn’t even own a car. Working whatever jobs I could find. And realizing I wasn’t exactly crushing life.One day I walked into an Air Force recruiter’s office and told him:\"I don’t care what job I get - just get me outta here.\"That gamble landed me in pharmacy tech school.South Dakota, to be specific. So… not exactly the exotic escape I had in mind.I spent the next 7+ years counting pills, managing inventory, and handling patient care. Did the job right. Didn’t love it - but I showed up, executed, and took care of people because that’s what the job required.But I knew I wasn’t built to count pills forever.Eventually, I found my shot at something different: Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). Bomb squad life.Graduated in 2009. Spent the next 12 years as an Air Force EOD Tech - leading small teams, managing high-risk problems, and working in environments where failure wasn’t an option.Funny thing is. EOD teaches you a lot about explosives. But it teaches you way more about people.Trust matters. Clarity matters. Communication matters.And the real dangers? They’re rarely the thing staring you in the face. They’re the hidden stuff nobody’s talking about until it blows up.That’s true in combat zones. That’s true in business too.I retired from the Air Force in 2020 after 20 years and 9 days of service.Now?
