ABOUT KENDRA SCHENK
Kendra has a passion for safety which is evident through her work in assisting states, local agencies and Metropolitan Planning Organizations with finding solutions to reduce crashes on their roadways. Kendra is nationally known for her extensive experience in safety analysis. She has unmatched knowledge using predictive analysis detailed in the Highway Safety Manual, performing systemic analysis for agencies across the country, and developing implementable Vision Zero and Safety Action Plans that are compliant with the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) guidelines.Kendra is a proven implementer of the Safe System Approach (SSA) in planning, policy, and infrastructure projects. Kendra led one of the first Safety Action Plans centered around the SSA in Ohio. Additionally, she co-led workshops for an MPO to help the agency understand how they could implement SSA into their daily policies and practices. Kendra is also a subject matter expert on an FHWA task to incorporate the SSA into safety improvement projects and policies. As a component of the SSA, Kendra also spearheaded the BNSafe initiative which implements a safety culture among the employees at B&N. In addition to considering safety improvements on every project, everyone takes responsibility for safety by being safe road users themselves. With every project, whether in the planning or design phase, Kendra ensures that the countermeasures identified are implementable. This goal is evident with her successfully helping agencies secure over $56 million in state sponsored Highway Safety Improvement Program projects and SS4A grants. Kendra also helps agencies prioritize projects for implementation. Putting a plan in place and securing funding for implementing solutions helps agencies truly drive down crash frequencies on their way to achieving zero fatalities and serious injuries.
