ABOUT KENDRA BOGGESS

Experienced President with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Fundraising, and Leadership. Strong business development professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused in Business; Career and Technical Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Appointed Concord University’s 12th President April 22, 2014, after serving as the Interim President for just over one year, I brought nearly three decades of serving Concord in academics and administration to the presidency. Throughout my career, I have been honored to serve on numerous national, state, institutional and divisional committees and initiatives and have been recognized for my leadership. In my current role, have been elected President of the Council of WV University and College Presidents, President of the West Virginia Association of Regional and College Presidents (WVARCU), President of the Mountain East Conference Presidents’ Council, and have been active on many statewide educational boards, committees, and initiatives. In the presidency, I have worked to transform the university to better anticipate the needs of the region and state while also anticipating the currents of student interest in the volatile higher education marketplace. With a thorough knowledge of higher education as an industry, and of higher education specifically in West Virginia, I have been able to encourage and support changes to Concord’s program development and enrollment growth. Concord’s newly approved Nursing program (beginning in January 2023) is the best example, but there are many others–including the addition of Esports, multimedia production, multi-track health science, substance use studies, the MBA, the MAT, and Graphic Design, with more programs to come. Colleagues comment that I hold a basic business savvy, something I endeavor to always bring to the table, This skillset has allowed for accelerated change at Concord and my Board has recognized my financial leadership as serving the institution well.
