About Kendal May

Hailing from the Hoosier state, I am a licensed Tennessee CPA currently serving as a senior financial analyst with a mid-sized Company. My employer operates within the medical device industry.Prior to accepting my current role, I began my audit career with Crowe LLP in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During my time in the Great Lakes state, I gained invaluable experience in many industries. These industries included manufacturing, retail, not for profit, and healthcare. It was during these years that I began to develop my niche in the manufacturing sector. In addition, I also gained important soft skills such and project management and team leadership. I was fortunate to be able to mentor and coach two interns during their time with the firm.Eventually, I took a transfer to Crowe\'s Nashville, Tennessee office where I primarily audited financial institutions. One of these institutions was publicly traded and added additional diversity to my audit background.Longing to jump back into the manufacturing world, I accepted my current role as a senior financial analyst. This role is a solid blend of traditional accounting and financial planning and analysis. I greatly enjoy this blended role as it continually provides new challenges and creates variety in my work day. I am responsible for the entirety of the month end close, creating the annual budget, management reporting, and various other ad-hoc requests.Although my current role skews more towards the FP & A side of things, I also work to stay up to date on recent developments in the technical accounting world. I accomplish this through viewing accounting news websites and webinars as well as completing CPE courses on a regular basis. My CPE courses are generally focused on technical accounting developments.As a side hobby, I also enjoy blogging. I find that this hobby helps to keep my writing skills sharp. In a world dominated by numbers, I believe that my ability to write makes my skill set unique and enhances my ability to add value in my work place. My writing has garnered attention leading to invitations to appear as a guest on YouTube content.

   Solely responsible for completing and implementing month, quarter, and year end close- Prepare monthly package for CEO and key board members. Package includes historical and forecasted balance sheets, income statements, and statement of cash flows. Further, the package includes EBITDA and cash flow bridges- Monitor the Company\'s compliance with debt covenants, reporting quarterly to the bank- Serve as the Company\'s ERP liaison- Completed integration of ERP cloud hosting- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable personnel and provide ongoing constructive feedback- Solely responsible for coordinating with audit and tax personnel and completing requests- Develop policies are procedures where they previously did not exist, including balance sheet reconciliations, centralized invoice vouching, and location-specific income statements- Manage AR/AP personnel to ensure optimal working capital levels- Process payroll on a weekly basis- Oversaw clean up of balance sheet post-acquisition. In three months time, got the balance-sheet from a disclaimer of opinion at OBS to a clean year-end audit- Transitioned company to GAAP compliance from previous cash basis accounting- Expedited month-end close from approximately 25 days to 5 days-Lead the Company\'s implementation of GROW business intelligence platform
