Research Technician in Popcorn Breeding at Ag Alumni Seed, supporting the development of elite popcorn hybrids and inbred lines through field research, seed management, and breeding operations across multiple U.S. locations.I work closely with breeders to prepare, organize, and plant nurseries and yield trials, ensuring accurate data collection and high-quality seed handling. My responsibilities include:Seed preparation and inventory management (shelling, treating, packaging, and storage).Plot design, data entry, and analysis using PRISM breeding software.Field operations such as planting, stand counts (manual & drone-based), pollination, rouging, pest management, and field maintenance.Harvesting and processing research materials (mechanical and manual), including seed cleaning, conditioning, and shelling.Collecting agronomic and phenotypic data (yield, moisture, disease, lodging, maturity) and evaluating hybrids for performance.Generating popping expansion data in the test kitchen to support hybrid advancement.Supervising and training up to 25 seasonal workers during peak nursery operations.Operating, maintaining, and transporting research equipment (planters, combines, trailers).Conducting quality assurance sampling under ISTA and AOSCA standards.
