ABOUT KEN TRUJILLO
One of Philadelphia’s most recognized and accomplished lawyers, Ken has long been an investor, real estate developer, and entrepreneur.In both public and private roles, Ken has led the development of housing, restaurants, community centers, and schools. He served as lead counsel for the City of Philadelphia in negotiations for the development of the Phillies ballpark and the Eagles stadium.Workforce housing and job creation are central to Ken’s work in Pennsylvania, Colorado and California. In his hometown, he is developing the 169-unit Durango Crossings project, one of the largest workforce housing developments in Colorado. His businesses, including fine-dining and fast-casual restaurants, employ dozens of people.Ken’s legal practice has focused on complex litigation and government relations, with experience in securities, education, gaming, and white-collar matters. A pioneer in impact litigation, his work includes handgun litigation on behalf of cities nationwide, antitrust and consumer-fraud class actions, and serving as lead counsel for Philadelphia’s successful soda tax. He was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Penn’s Carey Law School for 15 years.Ken served as the City Solicitor of Philadelphia, an Assistant United States Attorney, and as a Commissioner of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. He served on President Obama’s Presidential Transition Team and on multiple gubernatorial transition and oversight bodies. He was also a candidate for Mayor of Philadelphia.Ken is active locally and nationally in civic and business leadership. He has owned radio stations and has held numerous board leadership roles, including as First Vice Chair of UnidosUS. He chairs the UnidosUS Investment Fund and is on the board of the Raza Development Fund. He previously chaired Congreso de Latinos Unidos and the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and served on the boards of Health Partners, the Kimmel Center, WHYY, and Philadelphia250.Ken was one of the subjects of Homelands, the book by Alfredo Corchado, published by Bloomsbury.
