I was elected Chairman of Appleton AFC at the AGM in May 2022. The club is one of the largest youth football clubs in the UK, providing opportunities for nearly children (boys and girls, ages U5–U17) to play football each week.Appleton AFC is 100% volunteer-run and exists to- Develop young players physically, technically, and psychologically- Encourage teamwork, discipline, and resilience through sport- Provide a safe, supportive environment where children build confidence and friendshipsMy role as Chairman includes- Leading a committee of volunteers to deliver grassroots football at scale- Overseeing governance, safeguarding, and FA compliance requirements- Supporting over 250 coaches and volunteers across boys’, girls’, and mixed teams- Driving fundraising, sponsorship, and community engagement initiatives- Representing the club in regional football and community forums Last year alone, our club delivered over minutes of football — a proud achievement for a volunteer-led organisation.
