I have 30 years experience as a chartered architect leading integrated design teams on complex construction projects including pharmaceutical cleanrooms, laboratories and higher education research and teaching facilities. My recent portfolio of work demonstrates how sustainable design solutions can be achieved even in buildings with high energy demands such as the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast and NI Forensic Sciences labs which have both achieved ‘BREEAM Excellent’ ratings. Over the past 4 years I have managed the transformation of Ostick and Williams’s working practices, systems and procedures to meet BIM level 2 standards and will continue to drive research with academic partners into the practical application of building information modelling for sustainable design and facility management.
