Drove the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Hospital in the State of Arizona to receive national recognition due to achieving top rankings in emergency preparedness across FEMA Region IX. Architect and execute emergency preparedness training and collaborate with federal, state, county and local entities in adherence to HSEEP methodology. Brief c-level executives on initiatives and serve as the Chair of the Emergency Preparedness Steering Committee. Took charge of composing and enforcing a 400+-page Emergency Operations Plan outlining protocols and procedures for multiple scenarios including terrorism attacks, inclement weather or active shooter incidences. Spearheaded the Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack 2018 Healthcare Resiliency Preparedness Exercise Series involving multi-jurisdictional preparedness and recovery actions. Coordinated the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center, Maricopa County Department of Public Health, Arizona Coalition for Healthcare Emergency Response, Phoenix Defense Bureau, area hospitals, ambulance providers and local law enforcement. Evaluated and identified opportunities for corrective actions with intelligence and information sharing, operational communications, on-scene security, operational coordination as well as public health services. Orchestrated and actualized a single Point-of-Distribution full-scale exercise to disseminate annual influenza vaccine. Garnered recognition as the only children’s hospital in FEMA Region IX to execute an actual event of which will be adopted by 200+ medical entities throughout the State of Arizona. Served as the Lead Hospital Response Planner for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs National Defense Medical System Exercise 2018 involving 250 evacuee actors/patients. Headed full-phase planning including discovery, design, development and delivery. Assessed performance and identified areas for process improvements.
