ABOUT KEMIANNA SPENCE
Driven by a passion for storytelling, journalism, and music, I\'m a motivated A-level student aiming to forge a meaningful career in journalism. Since childhood, I\'ve been inspired by role models like Abby Phillip, Trevor McDonald, and Clive Myrie, who have shown me that impactful journalism has the power to educate, inform, and bridge communities. This aspiration is also a deeply personal one, as I hope to become a role model for other young Black girls-and the wider Blakc community-showing that any dream is attainable with dedication and resilience.I have completed my A-levels in English Literature, Media, and Music Technology, each of which adds a unique skill set to my journalistic ambitions. From winning first place in the JBH speech competition to representing the UK at the 2023 World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, my experiences have strengthened my skills in research, communication, teamwork, and cultural understanding. These opportunities have not only honed my problem-solving and public speaking abilities but have also expanded my perspectives, enabling me to write and report with empathy and insight.I bring skills in communication, critical thinking, and adaptability, essential in journalism. With a love for music nurtured by a musical family, I am especially interested in music journalism, and I have performed with the renowned Boy Blue dance troupe under Reading School of Dance, which also ties into my passion for storytelling through creative expression.My interests in media and hosting have driven me to build my confidence in presenting, whether through live events or recorded formats. I am excited to continue developing my skills and contribute meaningfully to the field of journalism, blending my love for culture, music, and community-focused storytelling.
