While with BIS, I provided operational support and substantive counsel to the Under Secretary, including- Preparing and staffing the Under Secretary at meetings and events- Developing and coordinating briefing materials and for him and the Secretary of Commerce- Aligning BIS leadership with our Congressional and public affairs office and - Implementing the Under Secretary’s outreach with industry, nonprofits, and foreign governments during a period of significant policy change- In addition, I was selected to participate in the White House Economic Leadership Workshop, a training program focused on equipping the next generation of leaders in government. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, I led policy portfolios two United States Senators. My first position was as a legislative counsel for the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee under Chairwoman Blanche Lincoln. As legislative counsel, I provided legal support for policy matters related to agriculture, rural transportation, trade, and homeland security related issues. I then served as a legislative assistant for Senator Mark Pryor where I was the chief policy advisor for a portfolio that included transportation, trade and agriculture issues.
