ABOUT KELSEY WIRTZFELD

I bring the zing to UX Design. How, you may ask? Through devoted listening and ceaseless curiosity. I knit disparate perspectives into designs that spark new webs of thought and charm users into delighted engagement. I obliterate barriers that cause frustration and misunderstanding. I provide vibrancy, intrigue, and yes.even goosebumps. My background in Environmental Studies, fascination with Psychology, and 20 years working in Higher-Ed make UX Design the perfect fusion of my strengths and interests. In my Systems Coordinator role at Reed College, I worked directly with developers to create a system in-house that enabled our staff to more effectively use information to support students, staff, and faculty. From initial creation through countless iterations, I tested and revamped the system to better suit users’ needs. It used input from over 30 departments, supporting academics, health issues, emergencies, and more. It was robust and nuanced, and makes an excellent background for working with digital environments. Since then, I have had opportunities to work on new apps, including one to help users in overcoming constraints to physical movement, and another that encouraged young girls to engage in STEM topics. Additionally, you are unlikely to find someone more interested in learning. On top of 20 years working in Higher-Ed, I have consistently and joyfully pursued my own ongoing education. Any skill I can\'t immediately bring to the table will be cheerfully researched and brought soon. Most of all, I relish bringing my passion for biomimicry: adapting nature\'s designs perfected over eons into sustainable and effective solutions.\"Conscious emulation of nature\'s genius.\" I will work cheerfully to achieve all of this and more, ideally in the broader arenas of \"designing for good\"(Environment, Education, Health, Accessibility, and/or Community Care). I will even bring my sense of humor. Promise. When not bringin\' the zingin\' to UX, I delight in reading, sketching, kickboxing, piano, and photographing nature in its stunning moments of quiet brilliance.
