About Kelsey Campbell

Kelsey (they/she) is a technical Data Scientist with applied contributions in social media analysis, natural language processing, and network science. They are interested in the social justice impacts of media manipulation, mis/disinformation, and online influence. Kelsey currently supports efforts to identify, characterize, and assess disinformation and misinformation campaigns on social and digital media platforms. Prior to this, they developed analytical capabilities for custom software solutions, and early in their career supported projects related to public health policy research. Kelsey is a driven individual committed to finding solutions and continuously learning. They have experience collaborating on multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems, and enjoy exploring new programming languages, analytical methods, and visualization techniques. Kelsey is also the founder of Gayta Science, a project started in 2017 with the mission of exploring the LGBTQ+ experience using data science and analytics. With a growing team of volunteer analysts, designers, researchers, and developers, Gayta Science is devoted to investigating a variety of LGBTQ+ issues using data-driven techniques and open-source technology. Kelsey holds an M.S. in Analytics from the Institute for Advanced Analytics at North Carolina State University. They previously graduated from Purdue University, Krannert School of Management, with a B.S. in Economics.
