ABOUT KELSEY BURNETTE
Kelsey Burnette has more than 25 years’ experience as an attorney in the field of child welfare and is the Chief of Legal and Permanency for Partnership for Strong Families, a community-based care lead agency. She is also an adjunct professor at the College of Central Florida teaching a class on the legal and ethical environment of business. Kelsey has extensive experience prosecuting child abuse matters in both Florida and West Virginia and was a founding member and board chair of the first child advocacy center in the state of West Virginia to receive full accreditation from the National Children’s Alliance. Kelsey has had the opportunity to work with Casey Family Programs on initiatives to redesign foster care and implement solution-based casework, including a project to review “cold cases” of youth who are at risk of aging out of foster care. Kelsey continued this work by engaging with law student interns from the University of Florida, who worked to achieve legal permanence for youth in foster care. In her current role, Kelsey is responsible for the adoptions and independent living case management teams, in addition to her responsibilities as in-house counsel for her agency.Kelsey is a graduate of Washington and Lee University School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in Florida, Massachusetts, and West Virginia. In her free time, she can be found at home in Ocala with her family, usually reading a book. She is also a member of the Training Toole Tribe, especially the 5:45am crew and the run club. Here\'s to getting stronger as you age!
