   I am the Co-Founder of Carl\'s Cause, a 501 (c)(3) that was created after the devasting loss of our son, Carl Specht, to suicide in June of 2017. Carl was an all-American son, who became afflicted with a mental illness in his early 20\'s. After battling hard against it for five years, it returned with a vengeance and we lost Carl to the deep depression and unclear thoughts that mental illness can cause. We have vowed to make a difference in his memory and have partnered with Behavior Health leaders in our community to raise funds for their programs to give better access to care for those who need it. We have also worked with the Kansas City Royals and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of KC to bring Mental Health Awareness to the \'Stadium Level\'- where people of all walks of life can find resources and know it\'s \'ok to not be ok\'!
