Post retirement, I turned my sights to giving back to my community, and in April, 2024, I was sworn in as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) working for children in Multnomah County who are under the jurisdiction of the child welfare system. As a CASA, I bring a 360-degree view of the children in my case to the Judge overseeing their permanency. This involves a deep understanding of their foster care circumstances, their education, their mental health/therapy, their medical needs, and their social and emotional wants. I investigate, facilitate, report, and advocate with the goal of ensuring any decisions made about their lives are serving their best interests.
