As the Chief of Staff and Director of a 30-person interdisciplinary office with a budget of $4-5M, I oversee a diverse set of executive operations activities on behalf of NESDIS, a $1.6BN space agency in NOAA, and its Director. Key Responsibilities- Executive Decision-Making and Senior Advisor: Serve as a key advisor to the agency head and senior executive team, providing strategic guidance on major satellite programs, science and technology initiatives, and policy decisions. Ensure executive directives are effectively communicated and implemented across the organization- Strategic Planning & Policy Development: Lead the development and execution of the agency’s strategic plan, aligning long-term goals with Administration and Agency priorities. Oversee a team of policy analysts who conduct research, assess policy impacts, and develop recommendations. Engage with stakeholders to understand and address their needs- Strategic Communications & Outreach: Direct NESDIS’s communication strategy and public engagement efforts, managing a 13-person team responsible for messaging, branding, and media relations. Ensure consistent and compelling communication across multiple platforms and public forums- Relationahip Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with senior government officials, academia, and industry leaders. Represent the agency and its Director in high-profile meetings, negotiations, and partnerships- Executive Operations & Headquarters Management: Oversee executive office operations, ensuring efficient coordination of high-priority initiatives and crisis response.
