ABOUT KELLY RIVETT

I have worked in law enforcement since 2010, specialising in partnership and collaborative working which has been central to my career in Kent Police. I am passionate about policing and I am driven to encouraging people to work together to achieve the best possible outcome. D&I is extremely important to me and is something that I am involved in both at work and in my own time. One of my favourite times when I was a Community Liaison Officer for 5 years between 2015 and 2019 and was then able to transfer my skills to a secondment opportunity as Faculty Lead with the Kent Police D&I Academy which launched in 2020. I led on the faculty of Continuous Professional Development.This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, to be of something so new and refreshing. I am qualified in Teaching and Training. Training is something very much enjoy and see it as a true honour that for a period of time I delivered County Lines, Gangs and Exploitation Module 1 to all probationers as they enter their career with Kent Police. I successful secured a place on the Kent Police Leadership Programme and was awarded a graduate degree in Management and Leadership. I have now completed the qualification and I am proud of my achievement. I am the secretary and communications lead for at the Kent Police LGBT+ Network. I have helped people from the LGBTQ ‍ ‍ community both internally within Kent Police and also within the local community. I’ve supported people through their journeys, helped families understand and have had an positive impact of helping people be themselves. I regularly conduct inputs to youth groups and parents in about sexuality and gender identity and find this very rewarding. I am a LGBT+ Ally under the Force’s Ally Programme and I hope to empower others to be themselves and speak up. Becoming an Ally has visibly demonstrated that I am someone who wants to help people and that I am here for every one of my colleagues and beyond. I am a Unison Steward, I listen and support people and strive to make a difference. I encourage people to join Unison, highlight the benefits or the support we can provide. I organise meetings, I represent staff at case conferences, disciplinary hearings and provide that extra support they made need. I provide a listening ear, as at times that is simply what people need or want. I find the role rewarding, I like to support people and be that person they are comfortable to speak with. I continue to further my career within Kent Police and am committed to keeping the public safe and helping others.
