About Kelly Leal
In fall 2024, I will be a 3L at Mizzou Law. I desire to practice entertainment law full-time and patient advocacy pro bono. My background in the television and film industry drives my interest in developing new trends in marketing for production companies and entertainment law. In 2018, I completed an internship in London, England, with Big Couch and its partner company FilmChain. Big Couch works on crewfunding films, while FilmChain is revolutionizing the film market with their collection and allocation of revenue system, which is developed on the Ethereum blockchain. In 2023 I worked for Angel Studios as an intern in their legal department and had the opportunity to work on a variety of legal issues and research opportunities. My objective is to leave an impact on the film industry by leveraging my creative background and innovative thinking. In another previous internship, I used my analytic and creative skills to determine the company’s market and utilized that information to redesign the company’s social media approach and image. This quadrupled their followers and lead to an increase in outreach from customers. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2020 as a double gator with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Marketing in addition to two minors, Mass Communication and Innovation, as well as my Master\'s of International Business. In college, I was selected to be a part of the Florida Leadership Academy, comprised of the top 100 Sophomores in the Heavener School of Business. I served the organization in my junior year as a mentor and at the beginning of my senior year on the executive board. My leadership experience throughout undergrad, grad school, and law school has taught me how to be a leader and influence others for the bigger team purpose. I am reliable, driven, and constantly seeking innovative solutions. At Mizzou Law, I am an active community member. I have been an Associate Member of the Journal of Dispute Resolution, a class representative for the Student Bar Association, and on the board of the Christian Legal Society for two years, among many other organizations I am proud to be a part of. In my free time, I volunteer for Head for the Cure, a brain cancer awareness organization. My mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma during my senior year of college, and I stepped into the role of her primary caregiver. Caring for my mom allowed me to spend precious time with her, grow in faith, and gain strong skills in advocacy, empathy, patience, diligence, and prioritization.
