ABOUT KELLY BARTA
After experiencing a prolonged and severe health crisis due to long-term use of topical steroids for eczema, I was propelled into the world of advocacy; determined to bring change to the way eczema was understood and treated. These efforts have led to serving on several national and international dermatology nonprofits, bringing awareness to the great needs of the Eczema and Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome (TSW) Communities and supporting those living with the conditions.I currently serve as Executive Director of the Coalition of Skin Diseases (CSD), an umbrella organization of national skin-related patient groups, which exists to raise awareness of skin diseases and advocate for the 84+ million Americans living with skin conditions. I also serve as President of the International Topical Steroid Awareness Network (ITSAN), the leading global patient advocacy group raising awareness to TSW and supporting the individuals suffering through this growing public health crisis. Other advocacy roles include representing the CSD on the Patient Advocacy and Drug Transparency Task Forces of the American Academy of Dermatology; the FDA & CTTI Patient Engagement Collaborative and serving on the Atopic Eczema Advisory Panel for Globalskin. I am committed to being a voice for the voiceless and have provided the patient perspective to regulatory, academic, medical and political audiences. In 2022 I published the book,\"To Eczema, with Love,\" to serve as a resource and guide for eczema and TSW patients and caregivers, and to raise awareness to physicians, regulatory agencies, and industry on the condition of topical steroid withdrawal.For more information on the book and TSW visit:
