Provided care for 1 to 3 critical, complex, and chronic patients at a time on an acuity adaptable unit – patients had congenital heart defects and received cardiac intensive care, cardiac step-down, cardiology, and heart failure services • Successfully managed several devices and therapies, including the Berlin Heart VAD, CentriMag VAD, PediMag VAD, HeartMate 3 VAD, Heartware VAD, peritoneal dialysis, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) • Cared for acutely ill surgical patients directly from the Cardiac OR and Cardiac Cath Lab • Precepted 3 new graduate nurses and 2 experienced nurses – taught them the evidence-based practice care protocols, unit guidelines, and safety standards of the unit • Communicated with multiple team members (e.g, fellows, residents, attendings, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and certified nursing assistants) while caring for critical patients • Educated parents and caregivers on care provided to their children to decrease the unit’s length of stay
