About Kellisha McKenzie

I’m a BSW student at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College with hands-on experience in crisis support, wellness coordination, disability services, and elder care. My work spans direct care, outreach, and administrative support: driven by a commitment to mental health advocacy, health equity, and accessible systems of care. As a Crisis Counselor at Crisis Text Line, I support individuals in crisis through high-pressure, emotionally charged moments. I hold certifications in QPR, Adult Mental Health First Aid, and Mandated Reporting, allowing me to respond with care and professionalism in complex situations. My recent internships reflect a strong interest in behind-the-scenes support. At Kingsborough’s Wellness Services, I contributed to the Accessibility, Women’s, and Wellness Centers by managing event logistics, helping students with disabilities, and overseeing supply organization. At Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, I worked closely with elderly residents while learning care coordination basics and supporting staff operations across multiple units. Previously, as a Home Health Aide, I provided essential emotional and physical support to patients with disabilities. These experiences have confirmed my passion for the administrative side of social work, ensuring services are effectively delivered, organized, and sustained from behind the scenes. I’m especially interested in care coordination, managed care, and desk-based roles that combine empathy with structure and systems thinking.
