I am a graduate of Hamline University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Paralegal Certificate. My major was in legal studies, with a minor in criminal justice. I also hold an Associate in Science degree in paralegal from North Hennepin Community College. I have over ten years of experience in customer service and administration, including over eight years as a paralegal / legal assistant / executive assistant. My diverse legal background includes the following areas of law which require transferrable skills such as multi-tasking and attention to detail, as well as strong interpersonal skills: Commercial real estate (REIT) where I reviewed, redlined and revised landlord-tenant contracts, managed travel arrangements and submitted expense reports; Corporate licensing where I researched and gathered information to procure new or retain existing licensing for corporate records and employees; Litigation in elder law (wills, trusts, estates, guardianships and conservatorships) where I regularly communicated with clients, supported attorneys with preparing for litigation by drafting subpoena and deposition notices, creating trial books, and drafting and electronically filing court documents; Employment law for the defense where I reviewed cases and drafted summaries and chronologies, responded to third-party subpoena requests by coordinating and collaborating with internal departments, scheduled depositions, maintained attorney calendar, regularly communicated with outside counsel to gather documentation needed for litigation, and managed invoices; Family law where I created and managed case files, interviewed potential clients (client intake), drafted and responded to formal and informal discovery, drafted initial pleadings, judgment & decrees, assets and liabilities spreadsheets, estimated expenses, and created trial books; Personal injury and workers\' compensation where I responded to discovery, collected records, prepared medical record summaries and chronologies, and communicated with clients. Further, I am friendly and respectful to everyone (both internal and external). Specifically, I can respectfully communicate with a wide variety of personalities from unique cultural and economic backgrounds and be collaborative with the team and outside contacts. Moreover, I am an extremely upbeat and team-oriented person.
