Works under the direction of the Assistant Chief of Police Services to develop, plan, direct, and deploy strategies to reduce violent crime and drive positive change in collaboration with community stakeholders at the neighborhood level.Oversees and allocates the grant fund for the Violent Crime Intervention Fund (VCIF) as well as initiatives in cooperation with State and Federal agencies, local public and private city partners, and community leaders on programs relating to community outreach, violent crime, and grant administration.Establishes programs in partnership with local government and community-based partners to determine evidence-based interventions that will drive down violent crime and help affected communities in the various targeted zip codes.Administers a staff to manage specific areas of responsibility within the Violent Crime Intervention Fund (VCIF) office.Reviews and gives final approval to the development and implementation of VCIF policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.Formulates financial and operational goals and objectives for the VCIF office and creates and maintains a budget for each strategy.Oversees a planning committee comprised of cross-sector partners to assess the drivers of systemic violent crime problems in the identified high-crime areas.Facilitates community assessment activities to identify community-specific needs around violent crime.Develops hot spot maps and dashboards of violent crime incidents within the identified zip codes and programming outcomes.Attends planning meetings with OCJP to ensure progress on the development of the multi-pronged strategic plan and performs necessary functions in researching and recommending opportunities to enhance collaborations among diverse stakeholders to meet program needs.Mitigates negative influences on at-risk youth and provides individuals with resources to ensure successful reintegration and better outcomes.
