I used to think teaching students about sustainability (and jobs associated with it) was a successful pathway out of poverty and into a more stable life. Until I took the Fulbright TGC course; now I know that getting students out of poverty needs a wider approach than just focusing on sustainability. I am sold on teaching for global competencies. There is power in it.
