About Kelley L. Sharp
After losing my only child, Sawyer, to Stage IV Brain Tumor/Brain Cancer (Glioblastoma Multiforme, GBM), at just 8 years old, my life changed forever as did my purpose. I began fighting for changes to be made regarding funding & treatment options for Childhood Cancer with a primary focus on Pediatric Brain Tumors/Brain Cancer. Fundraiser & Public Speaker for St. Baldrick\'s, The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation & Bob\'s Buddies. Volunteer Wish Grantor for Make A Wish Foundation, Eastern North Carolina. Advocate with Childhood Cancer supporters in Washington, DC several times a year (CureFest). Involved with many National Childhood Cancer Foundations that fight for increased funding for research from the National Cancer Institute (NCI). ALL PEDIATRIC CANCERS COMBINED ONLY RECEIVE 4% OF THE NATIONAL BUDGET FOR CANCER RESEARCH. More funding & better treatment options are desparately needed for the 1 in every 285 children under the age of 20 who will be diagnosed with cancer this year & every year until a CURE is found. Statistically, 7 children die every day due to Pediatric Cancer and 44 new children are diagnosed daily with this disease. This disease is not RARE & it sure isn\'t FAIR!
