Clearwater, FL, US

As a member of the Water team at McKim & Creed\'s Clearwater office, I am tasked with the design and engineering aspects of water-specific projects for clients in the Tampa Bay area and the greater state of Florida. These projects have so far included water main replacements, water treatment plant (both wastewater and potable water) design, fire flow hydraulic improvements, booster pump station design, among others. I have utilized CAD software such as Autodesk Civil3D and Revit to lay piping networks, create vehicle tracking models, plot design sheets for submittals, among other tasks. I have performed cost estimates, reviewed and marked up reports and design plans, compared construction submittal documents with technical specifications, and I have gained experience in permitting through FDEP, FDOT, and other organizations on the federal, state, and local levels.

ABOUT KELLEN MCKENNEY

As a recent graduate from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Biomechanics, I am eager to begin working in the field as a mechanical, biomedical, biomechanical, or design engineer, and I am actively searching for a full-time position. I have participated in multiple design projects through my time at UF, including the design of a measuring device for Arthrex as part of the UF IPPD program; the R&D of several aspects of a robotic knee for the humanoid robot, Nadia, during a summer internship at IHMC; the research, design, and assembly of multiple prosthetic limbs for student-led club GRiP at UF; as well as several class-related design teams: in Design and Manufacturing Lab (DML), my team designed and constructed a competition robot that won first place for our class period; and in Mechanical Design 1, my team designed a bicycle. Outside of engineering, I have an intense passion for music: I play both the piano and the saxophone (alto and bari), and I compose and arrange musical pieces for orchestra, symphonic band, piano, saxophone, and mixed ensembles. This passion allows me to grow my creativity in ways that extend beyond engineering, which helps me to have a well-rounded lifestyle.
