About Keith Summa

Keith Summa is an award-winning producer, television executive, investigative journalist, and writer. He’s a proven leader and builder of diverse teams that create innovative and compelling content. Currently, he develops and produces non-fiction series for various outlets and serves as a consultant to media clients. Recently he led the Scripps National Investigative team. Summa served as Senior Vice President of Content and Programming for Fusion, a cable network owned and operated by Univision Communications Inc. In that role, he was responsible for developing non-scripted programming, including news specials, documentaries, documentary series, and comedy docs. Projects include the documentary series \"Murder Mountain\"(Netflix);\"Food Exposed\"(Fremantle);\"The Traffickers\"(Netflix, Fremantle), and the documentary \"Science Fair\"(Nat Geo), the Festival Favorite Award winner at the 2018 Sundance and SXSW Film Festivals. During his tenure at Fusion, Summa oversaw the launch of the network\'s award-winning documentary and digital franchise \"The Naked Truth.\" Adweek called it an \"investigative journalism franchise for The Daily Show generation.\" The production team Summa built was among the most diverse in the industry. Launched in January 2016,\"The Naked Truth\" was recognized with several prestigious journalism awards, including the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for its premiere episode,\"Death by Fentanyl.\" Fusion\'s journalism content received more than 80 awards and honors under Summa\'s leadership. Before joining the senior leadership team at Fusion, Summa held various leadership roles at Univision Communications Inc, including Senior Vice President of Content Innovation, where he developed journalistic alliances and spearheaded new storytelling formats, including bi-lingual content, serialized digital content, and the first digital interactive-video investigative story. Before joining Univision, Summa led the CBS News Investigative Unit. His team of reporters and producers received the Emmy® Award for Outstanding Investigative Journalism five times. Previously, Summa spent 15 years as a producer for ABC News and Peter Jennings Productions. He won numerous journalism awards, in- including six Emmys, two Peabody Awards, two Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards, the RFK Journalism Award, two George Polk Awards, and an Edward R. Murrow Award, among others. Summa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University\'s Tisch School of the Arts.
