About Keith Moore

I am an electrical engineer with 5 years of engineering experience in system testing and product reliability. I have substantial experience in semiconductor manufacturing, silicon device yield, defect localization, electrical failure analysis, microanalysis and device characterization. My education is a BSEE with a focus on materials and devices.The work that inspired me to pursue my electrical engineering degree was end-to-end defect localization and failure analysis on silicon devices at the wafer and die level. I have used a variety of localization techniques including OBIRCH, PEM, LC, optical microscopy, voltage contrast and others. Investigations also generally required chemical, plasma and planar polish delayering. I commonly employed FIB circuit modification to isolate failing circuitry from the rest of the die and to create pads for microprobing. I typically conducted final defect analysis using FIB cross sectioning, EDS and silicon decoration etch for final SEM imaging. Depending on the situation I would submit the sample for other analysis techniques as appropriate.Additionally during this time I was responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the analytical lab tooling as well as training of new lab users.Prior to this I worked in an ASIC fab as a photolithography technician. I also did KLA defect source analysis and Yield Analysis. All of this background gave me a very solid foundation in silicon device fabrication before I ever began my formal education in materials and devices.To expand my capabilities and venture into industries other than semiconductor devices and failure analysis, I am now taking courses on PLC programming. I have completed the first course and am well into the second.
